This Schwibbogen showcases the skills of the Ore Mountain craftsman. Armed with a variety of tools, the pyramid builder stands in his own workshop and sets to work. The craftsmen, three in number, produce the most important product of the artisan, the Schwibbogen. They saw, sand and build. Once the candle arch is finished, some of them are beautifully painted. The candle arch builders, the pyramid builders and the painters – all these wonderful professions are depicted in this arch in the finest detail. Even today, the Erzgebirge Logging Cup is still held annually. Participants use their horses to transport long tree trunks through an obstacle course. But there is also a return to tradition. Where heavy machinery cannot reach, horses are used again. On our candle arch, the wood has already been brought out of the forest and loaded onto a ladder wagon.
